When we have a client with the following condition: stroke

Signs and symptoms for stroke

  • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or lack of coordination

Description

Stroke – occurs when the blood supply to the brain tissue is affected, either by a clot (thrombosis) or by a blood vessel bursting. Some of the brain tissue may be damaged, which may result in loss of speech, movement, thinking ability, and sphincter control.

The signs and symptoms of a stroke vary from person to person, but usually begin suddenly.

There is a high risk of a second stroke occurring within one month of the first
Lower risk of a stroke occurring up to six months after the first

Is stroke contagious?
No, "stroke" is NOT contagious!
